In June 2009, the 29th Division Association will dedicate a monument in Normandy in memory of the 175th Infantry’s heroic stand on Hill 108, north of St. Lo, on June 18, 1944. The U.S. Army awarded the 175th’s 1st Battalion the prized Presidential Unit Citation for this action, only five of which were awarded to 29th Infantry Division units during World War II. For information on the dedication, or to inquire about financial contributions for its construction, please contact Joe Balkoski on this website. Thanks . . . and “29, Let’s Go!”
